The Payroll/Benefits manager reports to the VP of Human Resources. This position provides direction and support for all operational functions for the company’s payroll, which include payroll processing, documentation and general payroll administration. In this role, this person would supervise and manage the duties of the payroll staff. 

Duties and Responsibilities:
Produces, Reviews, and analyzes payroll data and reports for accuracy and resolves discrepancies to ensure accurate posting to payroll records. 
Performs timekeeping administration and verification. 
Actively participates with the payroll process and serves as backup to include: adding new hires, terminations, status changes to employees, and garnishments. 
Provides assistance to employees relating to their compensation, time cards and paid time off accruals. 
Complies statistical and payroll data from a variety of sources (e.g. time sheets/payroll, salary adjustments benefits, leave balances, tax deposits, etc.) for the purpose of providing summaries to other personnel, and/ or ensuring compliance with established guidelines. 
Responds to all state requests for hours and earnings from payroll records. 
Maintains all records within the payroll and Human Resource Systems. 
Communicates with employees and management regarding benefits. 
Maintains process documentation of payroll and payroll-related activities. 
Responds to external requests for verification of employment. 
Responsible for all unemployment claims and attends telephone hearings. 
Responsible for Benefit administration related to areas which include 401K, Health, FMLA, STD, LTD, Vacation, PTO, etc. 
Supervise the payroll assistant 
Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

Requirements

Education, Skills and Experiences:
Bachelor degree in Accounting, Human Resources or related field or demonstrates equivalent work experience. 
At least 2-3 years of direct payroll experience. 
Knowledge of principles and practices of payroll and personnel administration. 
Excellent interpersonal skills. 
Effective written and verbal communication skills. 
Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment. 
Demonstrates behaviors which are aligned with the organization’s desired culture and values. 
Strong knowledge and experience in using Excel to include formulas and formatting. 
Ability to assume responsibility for assignments and to perform them accordingly with minimal supervision. 
Experience with Paylocity payroll system and Bswift, a plus. 

Directly responsible for updates and developments with payroll system vendor. 
Works directly with medical, HSA, 401k and cobra vendors as well.
