The State Board of Administration of Florida (SBA) provides a variety of investment and trust services to various Florida governmental entities. A key responsibility is to manage the assets of the Florida Retirement System Pension Plan, which is one of the largest public pension plans in the United States. The SBA’s primary focus is on investment management as it does not administer pension plan benefits. The SBA is responsible for administering the FRS Investment Plan (a defined contribution plan), the Lawton Chiles Endowment Fund, the Local Government Surplus Funds Trust Fund (currently known as Florida PRIME), the Florida Hurricane Catastrophe Fund and a variety of smaller funds.

The SBA is currently seeking a Recruiter. The successful candidate will be responsible for full life-cycle recruiting to include internal and external recruiting, screening and placement, and onboarding. The Recruiter will play a critical role in ensuring the SBA is hiring the best possible talent by developing and executing recruitment plans and networking through industry contacts, association memberships, colleges and universities, social media, and colleagues. This position will develop and track key statistics of the recruiting and hiring process to improve the SBA’s recruiting strategy. This position reports to the Human Resources Manager.

Other duties include but are not limited to:

  • Sourcing and screening candidates and onboards new colleagues

  • Developing and maintaining SBA’s professional recruiting network through industry contacts, associations memberships, colleges and universities, recruiting platforms, social media and job fairs

  • Developing recruitment guidelines and tracks key statistics in the recruiting process to maintain an effective recruiting strategy

  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Senior Operating Officer-Human Resources and Human Resources Manager



  • Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources or a related field and

  • Two years of professional recruiting experience, or a

  • Master’s degree or human resources certification and two years of professional recruiting experience

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Effective negotiating skills

  • Proven candidate sourcing and relationship building skills

  • Knowledge of applicant tracking systems and human resource information systems, preferably PeopleSoft

  • Knowledge of employment laws and practices

  • Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills

  • Ability to work with various departments and foster a teamwork environment

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Ability to collect and interpret data-based measurements to demonstrate the effectiveness or failure of the recruitment system from position opening to onboarding

  • Ability to maintain a high-level of confidentiality

  • Ability to travel for recruitment meetings, college visits, and career fairs

  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
