Bates White Economic Consulting has an exciting opportunity for a Recruiter in our Washington, DC office. The Recruiter is responsible for coordinating all recruiting programs including PhD, undergraduate (full-time and internship), experienced professional, and operations.

The primary duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Plans and executes various recruiting events.
  • Coordinates application review process for all positions.
  • Serves as main point of contact for candidates.
  • Schedules interviews ensuring balanced schedule for each candidate.
  • Conducts interviews.
  • Attends leadership meetings and provides input for key decision-making.
  • Extends offers to candidates and prepares offer packages.
  • Coordinates background checks.
  • Maintains and updates all external job postings as well as internal requisitions in applicant tracking system.
  • Prepares various reports in applicant tracking and other HR systems.
  • Attends annual American Economic Association (AEA) conference in January, as part of the PhD recruiting process.
  • Serves as a member of the Summer Consultant Program leadership team; works with team to organize and plan events; conducts exit interviews for all Summer Consultants.
  • Administers and documents good faith efforts.
  • Compiles and sends out new hire packages.
  • Assists with new hire onboarding process.
  • Completes employment verifications.
  • Plans internal employee events.
  • Drafts various internal communications including new hire announcements.


  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or related field required.
  • 1-3 years of experience in recruiting required; previous experience in a professional services environment preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate with employees at all levels of the firm.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask efficiently.
  • Ability to recognize and protect highly confidential information from disclosure.
  • Team player who is receptive to others’ input and ideas.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Experience with an applicant tracking system preferred.
  • Ability to frequently operate a computer or other office productivity machinery.
  • Ability to perform essential functions with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • May require more than 40.0 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
