HJF is seeking a Sr. Compensation Analyst to support the Human Resources Department in Bethesda, MD. The Sr. Compensation Analyst who fulfills this new role must enjoy working in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment. This role will assist in the planning, development, implementation and maintenance of compensation programs, policies, and procedures to ensure alignment with HJF’s business strategy, goals and objectives. The Sr. Compensation Analyst will partner with all levels of management, employees and the internal Human Resources Team to ensure competitive, compliant and cost effective compensation programs. 

Responsibilities:

  1. Performs job analysis on new and existing positions to determine proper classification and determine appropriate salary level according to compensation guidelines and policy.
  2. Utilizes market data sources to benchmark positions and conducts internal/external job analysis.
  3. Assists in managing participation in multiple compensation surveys on behalf of HJF; collects data, ensures appropriate job matches and that all data is “clean” and submitted to vendors in a timely manner.
  4. As necessary, modifies and creates new position descriptions, which accurately reflect current roles, responsibilities and requirements.
  5. Assists in creating and maintaining position description database, to ensure consistency and integrity in job classification across the organization.
  6. Promotes growth of business by providing labor mappings for government contract proposals.
  7. Provides various compensation related information as needed, including but not limited to, salary verification, compensation analysis, market analysis, and recommendations for salary budgets.
  8. Assists in researching, analyzing and monitoring government compliance programs and/or regulations (e.g. FLSA, SCA, DCAA, OFCCP, Equal Pay Act) and possible impacts on HJF’s compensation programs.
  9. Assists in the re-structuring of compensation plans, processes and policies, both current and in the future.
  10. Provides customer support to HR Team members, all levels of management, and employees through counseling, training and issue resolution on a wide variety of issues.
  11. Investigates and recommends possible solutions in regard to salary administration issues/concerns (e.g. internal/external equity, appropriate, compliant).
  12. Assists in developing and delivering training programs, to communicate new or revised compensation programs.
  13. Assists in developing key compensation metrics reports for upper management on a regular or as needed basis.
  14. Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong general knowledge of HR principles and practices; Excellent knowledge of HR/Compensation related laws and regulations and practical application; Self-starter with ability to take initiative, work independently, and use good judgment skills  to make sound, defensible decisions; Solid internal consulting skills with the ability to influence and collaborate as part of a team and act as a change agent; Excellent analytical, interpersonal, verbal and written communication and organization skills; Ability to multi-task and manage ambiguity; Proficient in use of MS Office, with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

Minimum Education/Training Requirements:  Bachelor’s degree in Business or Human Resources or related discipline. Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) highly desirable. Previous experience using PeopleSoft preferred, but not required.

Minimum Experience: 6 years’ experience as Compensation Analyst, preferably with at least 2 years in a federal government contracting environment. 

Physical Capabilities: Ability to sit extended periods of time at a desk and computer.

Work Environment: Office environment, with occasional travel to off-site customer locations.
