Provide administrative level support to the EEO/Employment Administrator by reviewing applications, conducting background screens, working with hiring departments to place new hires and temporary personnel, responding to unemployment benefit claims, proctoring written exams, etc. Provide back up support to the compensation function by entering and/or verifying bi-weekly payroll, entering and/or verifying annual merit increases, updating job descriptions, responding to external market surveys, and other duties as assigned. Proficiency in Excel necessary. Excellent writing and editorial skills necessary to provide administrative level support in researching, writing, and editing a wide range of HR policies and other various Human Resources (HR) documents/reports. Maintain, update, and edit HR policies, the HR Policy Index, the City’s Employee Handbook, and the HR web pages. Coordinate New Employee Orientation and the City’s Supervisory Development Training program, including developing and delivering training on a variety of compliance and supervisory topics. Plan, coordinate, and implement the Annual City Hall Administration Employee Recognition & Awards programs. Track and maintain HR contracts and City departmental disciplinary reports. As needed participate in employee investigations and prepare responses. Coordinate and assist in the implementation of annual training of Collective Risk Management department representatives. Provide back up support to the benefits area by entering and cross-checking annual benefits information. Serve as backup in the EEO/Employment Administrator and HR Administrative Assistant’s absences.

Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Human Resource Management, Business, Public Administration, Organizational Psychology, Social Science, or a related field is required or an Associate’s degree in a related field and combination of Human Resource experience, training, and knowledge. Over four years of experience in employment related personnel jobs and/or Human Resource Generalist positions required or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. A valid SC driver’s license is required.
