General Description

The Senior Human Resources Business Partner will serve as a strategic business partner to department heads and senior management throughout the organization to align Human Resources practices with business initiatives.  This position will provide leaders with HR support in the areas of organizational structure, change management, employee relations, performance management and talent acquisition.  This position will partner specifically with the Information Technology, Portfolio Management, Trading, Research and Investment Operations departments. The ideal candidate will transition seamlessly between high-level strategizing and hands-on HR functional work. This position offers the opportunity to have a significant impact across the business through innovative approaches to challenges, creating and enhancing processes and programs and sharing experiential insights across the HR team.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Build strong and trusting relationships with the business leaders within assigned business units.
  • Partner with business unit leaders to assess strategic needs and establish department priorities.
  • Develop and maintain an intimate knowledge of the business and the marketplace in order to better support the assigned business unit and provide insight into ways to improve the business.  Attend business unit staff meetings and meet regularly with business unit leaders.
  • Leverage and influence evolution of organizational change and culture.
  • Assist and provide guidance to line management on Human Resources related issues or policy interpretation.
  • Coach and advise business leaders in the leadership and management of their teams.
  • Communicate and promote HR initiatives to assigned business units to ensure that these initiatives are being utilized consistently and effectively throughout the firm
  • Contribute to the creation and execution of the overall HR strategy.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of compensation structures and strategies as necessary to deal with retention, motivation and/or attraction challenges in partnership with the Director of Human Resources.
  • Proactively share knowledge across the HR team and be a mentor to team members to drive continuous development and enhance personal and team capabilities.      
  • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • In conjunction with Learning and Development, participate in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success. Follow up with employees and leaders to ensure training objectives are met.
  • Analyze trends and metrics to develop innovative solutions, programs and policies.
  • Partner with business unit leaders during the performance and compensation review process.
  • Provide HR counsel and problem-resolution support in dealing with performance management, employee relations issues, and organizational changes.
  • Provide consistent application of policies and procedures throughout the company.
  • Work with assigned business unit leadership and HR team members to manage voluntary and involuntary employee separations.
  • Work on special projects and initiatives as they arise.


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Graduate degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience as a Human Resources Business Partner.
  • SPHR or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
  • Prior experience in financial services and/or supporting an Information Technology department preferred.
  • Must understand the clients’ business and its objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive company practices to create healthy and effective organizations.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills with a demonstrated ability to build relationships with senior and executive leaders.
  • Ability to work with confidential and sensitive information in a professional manner.
  • Demonstrated understanding of business requirements, industry trends and human resource-related practices.
  • Ability to create, enhance and implement innovative Human Resources practices and programs.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to gather unrefined business requirements from multiple sources and formulate and deliver a solution in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible and work effectively in a fast paced environment where there may be ambiguity.
