Ryan Specialty Group is looking for a Senior Human Resources Generalist to join our Chicago team. We are a fast paced, energetic and rapidly growing organization that offers a great opportunity for someone interested in further developing their career. This position will have the opportunity to touch multiple areas of HR and will be an important part of supporting the day to day HR needs of our organization. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Coordinate and assist in recruitment efforts for all exempt positions including; sourcing, reviewing resumes, screening and interviewing, creating and posting jobs.
  • Create and manage complex exempt offer letters, employment agreements, and other employment related documents.
  • Assist with new hire onboarding (i.e., new hire materials, E-Verify), orientation and off-boarding.
  • Administer FLSA job classifications (exempt vs. nonexempt) and assist with the creation of position descriptions.
  • Manage and resolve employee relations issues. When necessary, conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations and escalates to HR Director to ensure consistency of approach.
  • Conduct exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations.
  • Develop, recommend and implement HR policies and procedures; prepare and maintain employee handbook on policies and procedures.
  • Manage online compliance/harassment training.
  • Create adhoc and monthly reports.
  • Assist with merger and acquisition activities and other special projects as assigned.

 

Requirements

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS

  • 7- 12 years comparable experience within an HR department.
  • 3-5 years experience with benefits administration.
  • Demonstrated ability to use sound judgment, critical thinking, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and follow directions.  Read and interpret business reports and to make independent decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to review and improve existing processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written with employees at all levels as well as outside vendors.
  • In-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a  team,  and develop positive, collaborative relationships with peers and employees across the organization.
  • This candidate must be a self-starter with strict attention to detail and the ability to multi-task a variety of assignments seeing each to resolution.
  • Demonstrated organizational, time management and prioritization skills while working under pressure, ability to adapt to constantly changing business needs.
  • Proficient knowledge and skill level required in use of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint; Advanced Excel including Pivot Tables and Conditional formatting preferred.
  • HRCI Certified Professional (PHR) or HRCI Senior Professional (SPHR).
