General Summary

The Senior Human Resources Generalist is responsible for managing International and Domestic Employee Benefits, domestic onboarding, payroll, compliance and records, consultant agreements (domestic and international), updating and communicating HR policies and the Employee Handbook. The Senior Generalist supports both management and employees to address and resolve conflict and performance issues. S/he is constantly aware of opportunities to improve the work environment for all staff. The Senior Generalist collaborates with the Senior Director to ensure Performance Management, Employee Relations, Recruitment, Compensation, Training and Development and managed effectively.

Representative Duties and Responsibilities

Domestic and International Benefits

  • Collaborates with brokers to ensure that IMA’s benefit package is competitive, cost effective and compliant. Keeps abreast of new approaches and offerings for benefits. Negotiates the best options for IMA.
  • Develops policies and procedures to support benefit offerings. Communicates regularly with staff to keep them up to date and to ensure benefits are fully utilized.
  • Works with employees and brokers to resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Communicates with senior leadership to discuss annual benefit costs and options.
  • Is knowledgeable and informed about benefits and pay issues as they relate to IMA’s Expat and TCN staff. Is informed and educated about local laws that might impact our staff, as we enter new countries.
  • Keeps abreast of new innovations in these areas and suggests changes to IMA’s offerings.

Compliance/Employee Handbook/HR Policies

  • Keeps abreast of changing laws and regulations and ensures that all HR policies, practices are compliant and up to date.
  • Keeps all HR records compliant and up to date.
  • Resolves audit issues in a timely manner.
  • Keeps all HR policies up to date. Writes new policies when needed and communicates. Finds various ways to communicate to reach all parties.
  • At least annually or more often if needed, updates and distributes updated Employee Handbook
  • Creates HR reports: these can be regular scheduled reports or ad hoc requests

Payroll

  • Supports Finance in managing payroll 

Consultant Agreements

  • Manages the policies, procedures, execution and monitoring of Consultant Agreements

Other responsibilities:

  • Supports the Senior Director, HR in the following areas: Recruitment, Employee Relations, Training and Development, Compensation and other strategic HR initiatives.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

The employee will perform other duties and responsibilities as required by the Vice President International Public Health Programs which might include administrative, management, and technical tasks.  

 

 

 


 

Requirements

Qualifications

Minimum 7+ years of Human Resource experience, preferably in an international non-profit setting.

  • Demonstrated experience in the design and delivery of high impact employee benefit programs.
  • Able to communicate effectively in writing and verbally, important and sometimes complicated HR programs and policies.
  • Understanding of how our funding partner’s requirements impact HR policies and practices.
  • Experience managing HRIS and Payroll systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple requests and priorities while maintaining excellent customer relations.
  • Manage vendor relationships to ensure that IMA has the best products and systems for the best cost.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Education Requirements

  • BA or BS degree required; HR certification completed or in process.
