 We are currently looking for a Senior Recruiter to recruit highly qualified candidates for all positions in California including experienced professional/technical positions as well as management positions. Typical positions include: Maintenance Technicians/Managers, Assistant Property Managers, Property Managers, and Resident Services Coordinators. The Senior Recruiter is responsible for interviewing/evaluating prospective applicants, collaborating with/making recommendations to hiring managers, developing/maintaining effective working relationships with recruiting resources, and maintaining the full recruiting life-cycle.

The ideal candidate has an established California network of candidates in Affordable Housing, Property Management and/or a related field with a proven track record of establishing and maintaining a highly qualified, diverse pipeline. This is a new position for Mercy Housing, so the ideal candidate also has an ability to help build a recruiting strategy with innovative ideas.


1. Actively search for qualified candidates of all positions in California through recruiting resources.

2. Partner with hiring managers to determine staffing needs and develop positional recruitment strategies.

3. Interview candidates by phone and/or in person and bring recommendations of top candidates to hiring managers.

4. Coordinate interviews with candidates and hiring managers, as needed.

5. Collaborate with Human Resources team once candidate has been identified to start the onboarding process.

6. Develop and maintain relationships with resources that bring qualified candidates, including, recruiting agencies, local industry associations, community colleges, diverse resources, etc.

7. Maintain a database of potential candidates to pair with other job postings within the region.

8. Stay current on the organization's policies and federal and state laws regarding employment practices.

9. May perform reference checks on candidates.

10. Attend hiring events to increase awareness of organization and increase candidate pool.

11. Be the liaison between the candidate and the organization through the full recruiting process/life-cycle.

12. Develop and track measurable facets of the recruiting and onboarding process so that the processes are transparent and measurable. Set continuous improvement goals.


EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in related field.  Human Resources certificate preferred.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of four (4) years in recruiting, preferably in property management, and/or non-profit.  Extensive interviewing and sourcing experience is a key requirement.

7. Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and recruiting systems (LinkedIn, Monster).

8. Treat a variety of people with respect and compassion.

9. Represent Mercy Housing in a professional manner at all times.

10. Understand and support the mission and values of Mercy Housing.
