Job Description:

Under the direction of the Executive Director, promotes equity and inclusion at the University to ensure compliance with applicable nondiscrimination laws, policies, and supports efforts to meet diversity strategic goals.

Essential Duties:

•Works closely with Deans, AVP's, Office of the Provost, the Office of General Counsel, ASU's Title IX Coordinator, the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities, the Disability Resources Center, and the Office of Human Resources.

•Coordinates complaint caseload and performs related duties such as case evaluation, administrative closures, witness interviews, timely communication with all parties, evaluating evidence and conducting analysis to reach a determination, draft and issue written reports.

•Processes requests for informal resolutions and requests for mediation.

•Facilitates educational training including, but not limited to: Respect in the Workplace, Anti-Discrimination/Anti-Sexual Harassment, Diversity, and Title IX.

•Works closely and in conjunction with ASU's Title IX Coordinator and Special Counsel, the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities and the Athletics Department to ensure ASU is in compliance with guidelines issued by the Office of Civil Rights.

•Identifies opportunities to improve and streamline work processes,

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Human Resources, Psychology, Social Work, Criminal Justice or related field and eight (8) years of professional  experience in nondiscrimination compliance and promoting equity in an employment setting; OR any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable skills, knowledge, and abilities have been achieved.

 

Desired Qualifications:

•Evidence of a Master's degree in Public Administration, Human Resources, or Psychology, or a JD or MSW.

•Experience working in a public organization (federal contractor)

•Demonstrated knowledge of academic, administrative, and organizational issues in higher education.

•Experience in applying and interpreting federal and state statutes and rules governing investigations in a regulatory setting.

•Experience in applying equitable-related laws, regulations, statutes and policies including, but not limited to, Title VI, Title VII, and Title IX.

•Experience in conducting sensitive and confidential investigations

•Experience in party and witness examination/interview and investigative techniques.

•Experience in conducting complex legal analysis and reaching legally sound determinations.

•Demonstrated knowledge of principles, practices and standards of OFCCP and EEOC regulations and guidelines.

•Demonstrated knowledge of methods, techniques, procedures and practices in administrative and civil investigations.

•Experience in presenting cases in an administrative or civil hearing setting.

•Experience in applying and interpreting civil and administrative laws of a complex nature appropriate to post-secondary educational institutions.

•Experience in gathering, compiling and preserving detailed evidence and preparing cases for administrative or civil proceedings.

•Experience in exercising high-level discretion and good judgment, and ability to quickly establish credibility with a broad range of constituents including faculty, staff, and students.

•Evidence of effective verbal and written communications skills.

•Experience in writing complex and technical investigative reports.

•Experience in mediating as needed.

•Experience in handling potentially challenging, confidential, and sensitive situations.

•Experience in delivering/facilitating educational and training workshops.

•Experience in working both independently and collaboratively in a diverse, team-oriented environment.

 

Working Environment:

•Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse

•Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work

•Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds

•Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts

•Communicate to perform essential functions

•Use standard office equipment including, but not limited to: computer workstation/laptop (keyboard, monitor, mouse), printer, fax, calculator, copier, telephone and associated computer/technology peripherals.
