Position overview:The Student Employment Coordinator (“Coordinator”) will be responsible for the student employment program. The Coordinator will work collaboratively with the Office of Student Success to maximize experiential learning opportunities for students on campus. In addition, the Coordinator will perform a variety of administrative duties that support the work of the human resources department. This individual will serve as the primary point of contact for visitors to the human resources office. This individual will also provide a high level of customer service, professionalism and support through all types of business correspondence. They will assist with planning and/or special events and complete other office responsibilities such as processing mail, ordering supplies and maintaining filing systems.

Essential job functions:

  • Leads all student employment functions including:
    • Trains student supervisors on student employment policies, practices and procedures.
    • Maintains the Student Employee Handbook.
    • Maintains job openings on the Spartan Jobs/Handshake website and advertises new postings via the Spartan Jobs Instagram social media account.
    • Responds to all student and supervisor questions.
    • Coordinates with the Office of Student Success to conduct student orientations and trainings
    • Provides training for students on using ADP Time and Attendance.
    • Assists students in completing new employment paperwork.
    • Creates new training materials/presentations for student employees and student supervisors.
    • Enters and maintains all student employee data in HRIS systems.
    • Manages all student payroll tracking and payroll communications.
    • Maintains Student Employment (HR) web page on Manchester University website.
    • Improves student employment program through use of surveys, social media communications and technology.
    • Maintains HR document control process for student employment forms and policies.
    • Works with students and staff on the federal work study program.
  • Works as part of a committee to ensure that the University meets federal work study program goals.
  • Provides a bridge for smooth communication between human resources and the University community.
  • Conducts ADP Time & Attendance training sessions with new student supervisors.
  • Appropriately directs all incoming foot traffic for human resources.
  • Assists with staff recognition.

Work schedule:This is an exempt, full-time position requiring 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. However, depending on the project cycles and workflow demands, additional hours or workday schedule changes may be required.

Salary range: $38,000 - $42,000

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources or related discipline.
  • 1 – 2 years’ experience in Human Resources.
  • Advanced computer skills, including MS Office Suite and HRIS software, preferably ADP and Colleague.
  • Experience writing reports and business correspondence.
  • This individual must have the ability to exhibit excellent customer service, integrity and confidentiality when working with both internal and external customers.
  • Ability to operate independently and employ solid decision-making skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain highly effective relationships both internally and externally.
  • Ability to influence, communicate, respond and provide support at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong detail orientation, critical thinking, time management and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of human resources concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local employment regulations/legislation.
  • Ability to exercise confidentiality and discretion.
  • Works collaboratively in a team-based environment.
