The Office of Development and Alumni Relations works to increase philanthropic support for UMass Amherst strategic priorities. We are growing our Talent Management function and are searching for our first ever Talent Management Coordinator to support an advancement community of 90+ employees across campus. Reporting to the Manager of Talent Acquisition and Human Resources, you will partner with hiring teams to dream up new and creative ways to source the next generation of development employees and will work to create programs that improve retention of our top talent.


In addition to excelling at finding and screening great people, you have a marketing mindset. You are both creative in how you connect with candidates and systematic in thinking through the right match between person and role. Developing a deep understanding of our culture and the distinctive qualities of each open position is necessary in order to identify the right people to fill them.


You will be the first dedicated Talent Management Coordinator, which means you will get to help shape the role of Talent Management in creating a collaboratively driven advancement culture.




Recruitment and Onboarding

  • Support the Human Resources team to develop creative sourcing and outreach strategies to attract and recruit a talented, diverse pool of candidates and build a pipeline of applicants for future position openings.
  • Develop and update job descriptions as needed.
  • Post and refresh well-crafted job advertisements via job boards and social media and screen candidates for open and future positions as needed.
  • Manage the logistics to ensure an exceptional candidate experience (schedule on-site, phone and video interviews; arrange parking; schedule conference rooms).
  • Maintain the recruitment applicant tracking system to ensure data accuracy.
  • Prepare onboarding schedules for new team members and update our intranet site with new staff profiles.
  • Collaborate with all team members to build and continuously improve our recruitment program and process.


Talent Development and Retention

  • Assist with the research, implementation and maintenance of a Development-specific professional education curriculum. Maintain a schedule of training and professional development opportunities to support frontline fundraising staff.
  • Communicate and collaborate with Central Human Resources colleagues to ensure efficiency, community and productivity.
  • Support the tracking and management of the annual performance review process for all staff.
  • Assist in the administration and preparation of Human Resource documents as required.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field and 2 years of related experience in Human Resources and Recruitment; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • You are an excellent communicator in writing, on the phone, and in person - with the ability to be insightful, creative and engaging.
  • You demonstrate initiative and build strong, positive relationships.
  • You have organizational and multi-tasking skills, with solid attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel occasionally and work some nights and weekends.
