We are expanding our HR function (aka the “Talent Team”) to support our organization’s growth.  We created an opening for an Employee Relations Specialist, and as we continue to grow this role could lead to a regional HR business partner role or similar for someone who is qualified and proven.  The Employee Relations Specialist reports to our Talent Program Manager and implements programs to increase employee satisfaction, works with supervisors, and helps manage employee performance.

As a member of the Apex Talent Team in the Employee Relations Specialist role, day to day you’ll find that you often:

  • Develop strong relationships with supervisors, leaders and Talent Team members as a trusted employee relations advisor to help identify employee relations issues, using experience and judgment to bring the issues to resolution
  • Provide effective case management of issues such as disciplinary action, performance management, resolution of complaints and facilitation of termination and exit processes for involuntary separations
  • Provide guidance on a variety of human resources related issues (i.e. Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), wage and hour, harassment, Americans with Disabilities (ADA), discrimination, colleague disputes, Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), etc.) to ensure effective, legally compliant resolutions are established efficiently and within company guidelines
  • Provide interpretive guidance on HR policies, practices, and procedures
  • Provide coaching on a variety of employment issues
  • Serve as a liaison to both employees and managers
  • Provide other support as needed within Employee Relations team for projects and peak capacity periods as well as broader Talent Team priorities
  • Participate in and/or lead the investigation and resolution of ongoing employee relations issues such as disciplinary actions and complaints
  • Collect and compile data, create reports, and track employee relations activity such as engagement surveys, stay interviews, and exit interviews
  • Support employee development, engagement, and retention initiatives including wellness campaigns, employee recognition initiatives, internal communications, and training and career advancement

What we're looking for:

  • BA/BS (preferably in Human Resource Management or related field)
  • 4-6 years of HR generalist experience
  • Strong knowledge of federal employment-related laws and regulations
  • Superb verbal and written communication skills
  • Track record of creativity and problem solving
  • PHR and/or SHRM-CP certification preferred
