POSITION SUMMARY

  • Reporting to the CEO and President, the VP Human Resources directly oversees: Human Resources, Organizational Development, Talent Development, Volunteer Services and the Childcare Center. The VP Human Resources originates and leads practices and objectives that will strengthen and promote a culture of high employee engagement and satisfaction.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the oversight and management of five departments within the division, inclusive of Human Resources (recruitment, employee relations, benefits, administration and the HRIS teams).
  • Participates in the development of the strategic plan in relation to system wide programs and trends as a member of the administration. Attains all agreed upon goals and objectives within specified time frames, as part of the systems overall strategic mission.
  • Lead the development and execution of the Human Resources strategic plan (Employee Pillar) and tactical plans and initiatives that support the systems business strategies.
  • Responsible for selecting, training and mentoring of Directors within the division.
  • Responsible for the division's operational excellence and ensures that the division delivers services in accordance with applicable policies, procedures and professional standards.
  • Acts as an effective change leader who will plan, develop, and lead the division and continuously improve systems, processes and practices that anticipate and adapt to changing organizational requirements and are focused on meeting and/or exceeding internal stakeholders needs.
  • Assess, improve and develop the organization's Human Resources policies, procedures and programs to ensure relevance and practical value.
  • Ensures confidentiality procedures for employment records and automated personnel data.
  • Ensures comprehensive communication structure to employees and leadership on all matters relating to employment.
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders across the organization to ensure that the client's needs and issues are being addressed in a manner they perceive to be effective and timely.
  • Develop a collaborative and customer-centric team that serves the organization as effective partners in the delivery of services.
  • Develop a Human Resources structure that aligns with the needs of the organization and optimizes resources in a manner that best supports the business; adapt the structure according to changing business requirements.
  • Provide advice and counsel to executive and senior leadership on HR related matters. Acts as an arbiter in policy problems, wage and salary issues and employee-relation disputes.
  • Responsible for ensuring federal, state, and system wide policy compliance in all areas of Human Resources related law. Maintains thorough knowledge of new Human Resources related legislation and prepares system for its impact.
  • Develops and manages the divisional budget for staffing, operating expenses, and capital items.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Thorough knowledge of current employment/labor law, benefits related law, pension/ERISA regulations, wage and hour laws, fair labor standard act, worker's compensation laws, OSHA regulations, and other human resources-related legislation
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Considerable knowledge in organizational effectiveness strategies, compensation and benefit programs, leadership development, assessment methodologies, state of the art recruitment and retention initiatives and performance management solutions.
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented with a sense of urgency about Human Resources. Excellent professional presence, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Well-developed organizational, interpersonal communications, negotiation, writing, and strong listening skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to influence others, create harmonious, productive working relationships and successfully collaborate with others.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE

  • Education: Master's Degree or equivalent; or a combination of related education, knowledge and experience.
  • Experience: Seven (7) to ten (10) years of HR Generalist experience with responsibility for tasks involving legal compliance and benefits; minimum of ten years is a senior HR management capacity, preferably in healthcare.
