This key role will lead Human Resources, supporting the organization’s mission and values, acting as a facilitator and champion of the desired culture. This role aligns and supports the company’s strategic direction with emphasis on attracting and maintaining a highly competent, diverse workforce while ensuring compliance with labor laws, contractual and other regulatory requirements.

The successful candidate will oversee effective execution of all workforce processes which generally include: recruitment and selection, performance management and employee relations, engagement and retention, administration of compensation and benefits programs, organizational and professional development, and talent management processes such as on-boarding and succession planning.

The VP of HR reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and contributes to the Executive Leadership Team as a subject matter expert, partnering with managers to provide support on all people related matters. The VP position will manage 1 part-time HR Generalist position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assess, design, develop and implement organizational development initiatives to optimize employee engagement through performance and talent management, while evaluating rapidly evolving change management and growth objectives.
  • Manage the Human Resources function, ensuring continuous improvement and providing regular analyses, briefings, and recommendations on all workforce matters.
  • Lead company training and development activity, implementing necessary resources for staff and leadership to optimize effectiveness. Collaborate with managers to recommend development opportunities for employees, and provide career counseling as needed.
  • Act as internal consultant in all organizational needs to support management, coaching leaders for both their individual leadership styles, as well as departmental/organizational challenges.
  • Develop and implement human resources policies to meet organizational needs, while complying with state and federal laws, and Quality System requirements.
  • Develop an approachable and trusted Human Resources unit that also demonstrates commitment to teamwork across functional lines, maintaining a high level of confidentiality.
  • Administer and maintain compensation and benefits programs.

Requirements

  • 10-15 years Generalist Human Resources experience; with a minimum 3-5 years in a leadership role
  • Thorough knowledge and expertise across the major disciplines of human resources management, (e.g., recruiting/ talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, employee relations and performance, training and development, compliance/design and interpretation of policy).
  • Strong employee relations background involving management and staff consultation, and proactive performance management.
  • Exemplary verbal, written, and interpersonal skills, as well as excellent analytical and problem solving capacity. High level of skill in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence with diplomacy while mentoring and coaching management as well as strong ability to educate, persuade and partner with all organizational levels.
  • Experience with HR Information systems/ technology (HRIS), and interfacing with payroll/finance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communication, Organizational Development or related field required, with a Masters degree preferred.
  • Senior Human Resources Certification (SPHR) required, or equivalent experience. Incumbent is expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills and abilities needed to keep abreast of human resources field and to use external research and a strong professional network to inform decision-making from external and best practice perspectives.
